CATCH Early Childhood
The latest addition to the CATCH Programs
After having an enormous impact and huge success with CATCH K-8 and CATCH Kids Club, the researchers and developers at The University of Texas decided it was time to address the youngest of us, pre-schoolers.
Their continuing research has demonstrated that reaching them at a young age only reinforces what they are taught and improves the chances of embracing these healthy messages and behaviors for a lifetime.
CATCH Early Childhood (CEC) is designed to nurture a love of physical activity, provide an introduction to classroom-based gardening and nutrition, and encourage healthy eating in children ages 3-5. Modeled after the nationally recognized CATCH Program, CEC provides an environment where physical activity, health education, gardening and
healthy eating behaviors are valued and taught. Little ones are motivated to walk, run, jump, dance and move their whole bodies while playing and having fun!
CEC Curriculum
CATCH Early Childhood (CEC) is designed to nurture a love of healthy eating habits and exercise in children ages 3-5. CEC helps provide an environment where physical activity, health education, and proper nutrition are valued and encouraged.
This curriculum features 19 classroom lessons to encourage healthy eating and activity. Parent Tip Sheets (in English and Spanish) provide coloring activities, additional information and recipe ideas. Includes hand puppets to use while reading stories in the catch curriculum. Hand puppets feature colorful CATCH characters on each, including the well-known Hearty Heart. Set includes 4 hand puppets, one for each character.

CEC Activities
- CEC helps provide an environment where physical activity, health education, and proper nutrition are valued and encouraged.
This Activity Box features over 500 activity cards for children ages 3 to 5. Each 5" x 8" card provides detailed instructions for fun activities. Little ones are motivated to walk, run, jump, dance and move their whole bodies while playing and having a blast! Cards are packed in a sturdy box with a snap shut lid and convenient carry handle.

The Jewish Community Center Association (JCCA), in collaboration with The University of Texas-School of Public Health has created Discover: CATCH Early Childhood to help address childhood obesity in their communities.
