Who We Are
We are the CATCH Group
Starting in the late 1980's, the original CATCH Trials included researchers from four different universities and was funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. At the conclusion of these successful studies, the research team from The University of Texas-School of Public Health was able to obtain additional funding from the Texas Department of Health to disseminate this new evidence-based program in elementary schools throughout the state.
The rest, as they say, is history.
The program has now grown to all 50 states, Canada and the Armed Forces stationed all over the world and has been adopted in many other countries that dot the globe. There are literally thousands of schools and after-school organizations who have adopted the programs and CATCH has touched millions of children's lives over the years.
The CATCH Group
The CATCH Group is proud to announce its newest partner, Jared Fogle of
SUBWAY® restaurant
fame. The Jared Foundation is proud to endorse CATCH as its official Child Wellness Program. Founded in 2004 by SUBWAY® spokesman, Jared Fogle, the Jared Foundation and CATCH will combine forces in the mission to eliminate childhood obesity.
CATCH researchers continue to study, evaluate, and create new CATCH programs today. New team members have been added over the years to meet grant and funding obligations, and this growth has included researchers, trainers, teachers, professors, instructional developers and designers, and an extensive data collection and evaluation group to ensure quality control in all new curriculum developments. The research team is a part of the University of Texas-School of Public Health and operates through the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living in Austin, Texas.
Flaghouse Inc. is one of the original CATCH Team partners, leading marketing and distribution of the CATCH programs, which they have proudly done now for over 15 years.
Starting with the original K-5 curriculum and activity box, through their partnership with CATCH and The Univeristy of Texas, the programs have expanded and grown to include K-8, CATCH Kids Club for after-school organizations and now the new CATCH Early Childhood Program for pre-school age children.
Rounding out the CATCH Group is the Coordinated Health Institute (CHI). The role of CHI is to support the marketing efforts of CATCH and the CATCH Team. CHI is also the premiere online training organization for health programs geared towards childhood and coordinated health, including the CATCH Programs.
